Public School Fund Investment Board

Statutory Authority

22-41-102.5 C.R.S

The Public School Fund Investment Board (PSFIB) invests funds received from the State School Lands Trust and is dedicated to the support of K-12 education. The PSFIB manages the investments of these funds on behalf of the beneficiaries — the schoolchildren of Colorado.

Over 95 percent of public trust lands are part of the common schools trust. Earnings are used to benefit kindergarten through 12th grade public education in the state.

In addition to the lands, the school trust includes the Public School Fund, (also known as the permanent fund) that had a balance of approximately $886 million at the end of Fiscal Year 2015-16. The Treasurer is the custodian of the fund, and the state constitution requires that it be securely and profitably invested. The corpus of the permanent fund is inviolate, and the interest is used to support K-12 education.
